Centered around Forest Park, a famed wilderness area within the city of Portland, Oregon, these small gouache paintings depict the private experience of emotion in public space. Throughout making these, artist Alyson Provax and I shared research, ideas and influences, often during hikes through the park.
The degree of sunshine on a given day, and which flowers were in bloom (trillium, Oregon violets, salmonberry blossoms, hooker's fairy flowers), influenced my color palettes.
No. 2 through 6 in this series were conceived and created for the third season of PDX CSA.
