Centered around Forest Park, a famed wilderness area within the city of Portland, Oregon, these small gouache paintings depict the private experience of emotion in public space. Throughout making these, artist Alyson Provax and I shared research, ideas and influences, often while hiking through the park.
The degree of sunshine on a given day, and which flowers were in bloom (trillium, Oregon violets, salmonberry blossoms, hooker's fairy flowers), influenced my color palettes.
This series is conceived and created for the third season of PDX CSA. Forest Park No. 1 was my proof-of-concept work and was not made available to PDX CSA subscribers.
